RED DEER, Alta. - Evan Polei scored the winner in the third period as the Red Deer Rebels opened their second round Western Hockey League series with a 3-2 win over the Regina Pats on Saturday night.
Adam Helewka and Colton Bobyk had goals in the second to tie the game at 2-2 for the Rebels, who lead the best-of-seven series 1-0.
Colby Williams and Cole Sanford opened the scoring in the first for Regina.
Trevor Martin made 20 saves for the win as Tyler Brown kicked out 28-of-31 shots in a losing effort.
Red Deer scored twice on four power plays while the Pats went 2 for 6.

BRANDON, Man. — Ivan Provorov, Tanner Kaspick and James Shearer all scored in the second period as the Wheat Kings downed Moose Jaw in Game 2 to take a 2-0 series advantage.
Tim McGauley, on the power play, and Duncan Campbell also chipped in for Brandon.
Brayden Point and Dryden Hunt, with the man advantage, had goals for the Warriors.

VICTORIA — Jack Walker's second power-play goal of the game was the winner as the Royals edged Kelowna to take a 2-0 series lead.
