OHL Roundup: Robinson nets OT winner as Rangers edge Spitfires in Game 1

KITCHENER, Ont. - Brandon Robinson scored twice, including the overtime winner, and added an assist as the Kitchener Rangers edged the Windsor Spitfires 6-5 on Thursday in Game 1 of their Ontario Hockey League quarter-final playoff series.

Robinson's second goal of the game came 2:39 into extra time to give the Rangers a 1-0 series advantage.

Ryan MacInnis also had two goals an assist for Kitchener with Gustaf Franzen and Adam Mascherin adding the others. Jeremy Bracco chipped in with three helpers.

Logan Stanley, Christian Fischer, Jalen Chatfield, Bradley Latour and Aaron Luchuk supplied the offence for the Spitfires.

Dawson Carty picked up the win in net, turning aside 29-of-31 shots in 52:15 of relief. Carty replaced Luke Opilka, who started for the Rangers, but was relieved after stopping 4-of-7 shots. Mario Culina made 32 saves in defeat.

Kitchener converted three times on four power-play chances while the Spitfires were 1 for 3.

Windsor's Brendan Lemieux received a match penalty for slew footing at 18:56 of the first period.

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — Vince Dunn's goal 1:05 into the third period was the winner as the IceDogs edged Ottawa in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series.

Anthony DiFruscia, Graham Knott, William Lochead and Pavel Jenys also scored for Niagara, which leads the best-of-seven series 1-0. Josh Ho-Sang tacked on three assists.

Jeremiah Addison and Nathan Todd both led the 67's with a goal and two assists apiece. Dante Salituro and Travis Barron had the others.

BARRIE, Ont. — Game 1 between Mississauga and the Colts was postponed due to a power outage at Barrie Molson Centre. The series will begin on Saturday.
