OHL Roundup: McKenzie, Amadio lead Battalion to 8-2 rout of Firebirds

FLINT, Mich. - Brett McKenzie and Mike Amadio both had two goals and an assist as the North Bay Battalion routed the Flint Firebirds 8-2 on Sunday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Zach Poirier had a goal and two assists while Zach Shankar tacked on three helpers for the Battalion (32-21-9). Justin Brazeau, Max Kislinger and Kyle Potts rounded out the attack.

Jacob Collins and Will Bitten scored for Flint (19-37-6).

Jake Smith made 45 saves for the win in net. Kyle Keyser took the loss after kicking out 17-of-22 shots in 34:39. Brent Moran went the rest of the way and stopped 14 shots.

North Bay was scoreless on three power-play chances while the Firebirds were 1 for 3.

GREYHOUNDS 5 STORM 4

GUELPH, Ont. — Zachary Senyshyn had a pair of goals as Sault Ste. Marie slipped past the Storm.

Blake Speers, Bobby MacIntyre and Gabe Guertler rounded out the attack for the Greyhounds (30-24-8).

Jake Bricknell, Marc Stevens, Givani Smith and Luke Burghardt scored for Guelph (12-44-6), which dropped its eighth in a row.

KNIGHTS 4 RANGERS 1

LONDON, Ont. — Aaron Berisha and JJ Piccinich scored in the first period as the Knights toppled Kitchener.

Olli Juolevi had a power-play goal in the second before Matthew Tkachuk added the other in the third for London (46-13-3).

David Miller responded late in the third period for the Rangers (40-14-7).

STEELHEADS 2 WOLVES 1

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Marcus Dickerson had the winner in the second period as the Steelheads topped Sudbury.

Mason Marchment scored a power-play goal in the first for Mississauga (31-29-4).

Conor Cummins found the back of the net late in the first period for the Wolves (16-42-5).

FRONTENACS 6 SPITFIRES 3

WINDSOR, Ont. — Stephen Desrocher had a goal and an assist as Kingston beat the Spitfires for their eighth straight win.

Ryan Verbeek, Ryan Cranford, Conor McGlynn, Juho Lammikko and Spencer Watson supplied the rest of the offence for the Frontenacs (43-15-4).

Logan Brown had a goal and two assists for Windsor (37-20-6), which also got goals from Brendan Lemieux and Bradley Latour.

67'S 4 BULLDOGS 1

HAMILTON — Artur Tyanulin and Travis Barron scored in the second period as Ottawa downed the Bulldogs.

Nathan Todd had a goal in the first, with Dante Salituro adding an empty netter in the third for the 67's (32-29-3).

Niki Petti scored the lone goal for Hamilton (23-33-8).

ERIE, Pa. — Anthony DiFruscia struck twice as Niagara doubled up the Otters.

Ben Jones and Graham Knott had the others for the IceDogs (31-25-6).

Dylan Strome and Kyle Maksimovich found the back of the net for Erie (48-13-1).
