QMJHL Roundup: Lazarev nets four points as Screaming Eagles rout Mooseheads

SYDNEY, N.S. - Maxim Lazarev had two goals and two assists to lead the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles past the Halifax Mooseheads 7-2 on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Evgeny Svechnikov added a goal and three assists for the Screaming Eagles (33-24-6). Loik Leveille, Phelix Martineau, Giovanni Fiore and Michael Joly rounded out the attack.

Kelly Bent scored both goals for Halifax (19-37-7).

Alexandre Belanger made 20 saves for the win in net. Eric Brassard started for the Mooseheads and kicked out 27-of-34 shots in 40 minutes. Kevin Resop stopped all five shots he faced in relief during the third period.

Cape Breton scored once on five power plays while Halifax was scoreless on three chances.

GATINEAU, Que. — Gabryel Paquin-Boudreau scored all four goals for the Olympiques as they toppled Victoriaville.

Alexandre Carrier assisted on two of Paquin-Boudreau's goals for Gatineau (44-17-3).

Mathieu Ayotte had the lone goal in the third period for the Tigres (30-26-7).

Alexandre Landreville and Jonathon Masters, both of the Olympiques, along with Victoriaville's Joey Sansoni and Marc Beckstead were all ejected at 8:19 of the third period for fighting after the original altercation.

SEA DOGS 7 TITAN 4

SAINT JOHN, N.B. — Sam Povorozniouk, Mathieu Joseph and Samuel Dove-McFalls all scored in the third period as the Sea Dogs rallied past Acadie-Bathurst.

Daniel Del Paggio, Joe Veleno, Spencer Smallman and Bokondji Imama rounded out the attack for Saint John (41-16-4), which won its fifth in a row.

Emanuel Aucoin struck twice with Guillaume Brisebois and Christophe Boivin also scoring for the Titan (24-31-6).

CHARLOTTETOWN — Filip Chlapik and Keith Getson scored in the second period as the Islanders edged Moncton.

Filip Rydstrom added another in the third for Charlottetown (30-26-7).

Vaclav Karabacek and Manuel Wiederer chipped in for the Wildcats (34-19-10).

SHAWINIGAN, Que. — Gabriel Gagne scored the only goal of the shootout as the Cataractes slipped past Quebec.

Anthony Beauvillier had both goals in regulation for Shawinigan (41-18-4).

Zachery Moody and Bronson Beaton, on the power play, found the back of the net for the Remparts (28-28-7).

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Etienne Montpetit stopped all 25 shots he faced as Val-d'Or shut out the Drakkar.

Francois Beauchemin, Anthony Beauregard, Filip Pyrochta and Mathieu Nadeau supplied the offence for the Foreurs (46-12-4).

Antoine Samuel turned aside 42-of-46 shots for Baie-Comeau (10-47-5).

HUSKIES 4 ARMADA 3 (OT)

BOISBRIAND, Que. — Philippe Myers scored 1:09 into overtime as Rouyn-Noranda beat the Armada for its eighth-straight win.

Anthony-John Greer had two goals in regulation for the Huskies (48-9-5). Nikolas Brouillard also chipped in.

Kristian Pospisil struck twice with Yvan Mongo adding the other for Blainville-Boisbriand (23-31-9).
