WHL Roundup: Graham nets hat trick, Hamm solid in net as Blades beat Pats

SASKATOON - Ryan Graham scored a hat trick and Brock Hamm made 43 saves as the Saskatoon Blades beat the Regina Pats 5-2 on Saturday night in Western Hockey League action.

Cameron Hausinger and Wyatt Sloboshan also had goals for Saskatoon (24-33-4), which won its fifth straight.

Chase Harrison and Adam Brooks found the back of the net for the Pats (30-25-7). Tyler Brown turned away 24-of-28 shots in defeat.

The Blades were scoreless on two power plays while Regina was 1 for 3.

HITMEN 4 BRONCOS 3

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. — Jackson Houck scored the eventual winner on the power play as Calgary edged the Broncos.

Tyler Mrkonjic and Pavel Karnaukhov also had power-play goals for the Hitmen (36-23-4), who also got a goal from Mark Kastelic. Jake Bean tacked on three assists.

Tyler Steenbergen struck twice with Jamal Watson adding the other for Swift Current (21-33-8).

It was a chippy game with both teams combining for 188 penalty minutes.

WARRIORS 5 RAIDERS 3

MOOSE JAW, Sask. — Jayden Halbgewachs had two goals and an assist to lead the Warriors over Prince Albert.

Brett Howden also struck twice for Moose Jaw (32-22-8), with Brayden Point adding the other. Tanner Jeannot chipped in with three assists.

Jesse Lees, Loch Morrison and Jordan Tkatch scored for the Raiders (34-21-8).

ROYALS 6 REBELS 2

RED DEER, Alta. — Joe Hicketts struck twice as Victoria downed the Rebels.

Jack Walker had a goal and two assists with Matthew Phillips, Tyler Soy and Vladimir Bobylev rounding out the attack for the Royals (42-16-6).

Luke Philp and Michael Spacek scored for Red Deer (37-22-3).

HURRICANES 8 OIL KINGS 4

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — Jordy Bellerive had a pair of goals as the Hurricanes snapped a five-game skid by doubling up Edmonton.

Tyler Wong and Ryley Lindgren both had a goal and two assists for Lethbridge (41-20-2). Andrew Nielsen, Cory Millette, Brayden Burke and Brady Reagan rounded out the attack.

Dysin Mayo scored once and assisted on two more for the Oil Kings (27-29-7). Brandon Baddock, Colton Kehler and Brett Pollock also chipped in.

WINTERHAWKS 4 ICE 3 (OT)

CRANBROOK, B.C. — Rihards Bukarts scored 4:03 into overtime as Portland slipped past the Ice.

Alex Schoenborn led the offence with two goals and two assists for the Winterhawks (32-27-4). Blake Heinrich evened the game at 3-3 late in the second.

Jesse Zaharichuk, Noah Philp and Zak Zborosky found the back of the net for Kootenay (10-46-6).

THUNDERBIRDS 2 SILVERTIPS 0

KENT, Wash. — Landon Bow stopped all 24 shots he faced as the Thunderbirds blanked Everett.

Mathew Barzal had both goals — including an empty netter — for Seattle (35-23-3), which won its third in a row.

Carter Hart turned away 19-of-20 shots in 49:38 for the Silvertips (35-21-6). Mario Petit didn't face any shots in 9:21 of relief.

TIGERS 4 WHEAT KINGS 3 (OT)

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. — Chad Butcher scored his second goal of the game 23 seconds into overtime and added an assist to lead the Tigers past Brandon.

Zach Fischer and Brian Williams chipped in with the others for Medicine Hat (24-34-5).

Mitch Wheaton, Ivan Provorov and Tyler Coulter had goals for the Wheat Kings (39-18-6).

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Matt Needham had a hat trick as the Blazers doubled up Vancouver.

Collin Shirley scored once and added two assists for Kamloops (29-24-9).

Trevor Cox and Radovan Bondra supplied the offence for the Giants (23-34-7).

ROCKETS 4 CHIEFS 3 (SO)

KELOWNA, B.C. — Justin Kirkland and Tomas Soustal scored in the shootout as the Rockets topped Spokane.

Jonathan Smart, Rourke Chartier and Dillon Dube found the back of the net in regulation for Kelowna (44-16-3), which won its third straight.

Presten Kopeck struck twice with Dominic Zwerger also chipping in for the Chiefs (29-24-9).

AMERICANS 7 COUGARS 2

KENNEWICK, Wash. — Parker Bowles had two goals and two assists to lead the Americans to a rout of Prince George.

Jordan Topping also scored twice and added an assist for Tri-City (30-28-3). Vladislav Lukin, Nolan Yaremko and Morgan Geekie rounded out the attack.

Chase Witala and Brad Morrison had goals for the Cougars (33-26-4).
