QMJHL Roundup: Jean-Christophe Beaudin stars in overtime as Huskies top Wildcats

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. - Jean-Christophe Beaudin's goal in overtime completed the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies' 7-6 come-from-behind victory over the Moncton Wildcats on Thursday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Philippe Myers and Gabriel Fontaine both scored late in the third for Rouyn-Noranda (44-9-5) to force the extra period. Fontaine's goal came with nine seconds left to play in regulation.

Timo Meier, Peter Abbandonato, Martins Dzierkals and Anthony-John Greer rounded out the attack as the QMJHL-leading Huskies won their fourth game in a row.

Samuel Harvey started in Rouyn-Noranda's net, stopping 21-of-25 shots in the first two periods of play. Chase Marchand came in in relief, earning the win by turning aside 7-of-9 shots.

Conor Garland struck twice and added an assist for Moncton (32-17-10), while Joey Richard, Cody Donaghey, William Bower and Jacob Sweeney chipped in as well.

Goaltender Keven Bouchard made 32 saves for the Wildcats.

The Huskies were 1 for 3 on the power play and Moncton was 3 for 6 with the man advantage.

SEA DOGS 2 MOOSEHEADS 0

SAINT JOHN, N.B. — Alex Bishop stopped all 32 shots he faced as the Sea Dogs blanked Halifax.

Mathieu Joseph and Joe Veleno supplied the offence for Saint John (37-16-4).

Eric Brassard made 34 saves for the Mooseheads (18-35-7).

ARMADA 3 REMPARTS 2 (OT)

QUEBEC CITY — William Gignac had the overtime winner as Blainville-Boisbriand slipped past the Remparts.

Yvan Mongo and Guillaume Beaudoin scored 35 seconds apart in the third period for the Armada (21-29-8).

Alexandre Sills and Aaron Dutra had goals for Quebec (27-25-6).

PHOENIX 3 VOLTIGEURS 1

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Hugo Roy had back-to-back goals in the second — including the eventual winner — as the Phoenix downed Drummondville.

Chase Harwell also scored for Sherberooke (21-29-9).

Jasmin Boutet had the first goal of the game for the Voltigeurs (25-32-2), who have dropped two straight.

DRAKKAR 3 TITAN 2 (SO)

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Fabrizio Ricci and Vincent Lavoie both scored in the shootout as the Drakkar squeezed out a win over Acadie-Bathurst.

Ricci also scored in regulation for Baie-Comeau (9-43-5), while Anthony Beauchamp's goal early in the third period forced overtime.

Jordan Maher and Christophe Boivin replied for the Titan (23-27-6).
