WHL Roundup: Sanford, Brooks lead Pats to 4-3 shootout win over Broncos

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. - Cole Sanford and Adam Brooks scored in the shootout as the Regina Pats edged the Swift Current Broncos 4-3 on Monday afternoon in Western Hockey League action.

Connor Hobbs's power-play goal at the 10:27 mark of the third period forced overtime for Regina (25-23-7), which has won back-to-back games. Sergey Zborovskiy and Sean Richards also scored for the Pats. Tyler Brown made 29 saves and turned away two skaters for the win in net.

Tyler Steenbergen, Glenn Gawdin and Jamal Watson replied for Swift Current (20-28-7), while Taz Burman stopped 35 shots.

The Pats went 1 for 4 on the power play and the Broncos were 1 for 3 with the man advantage.

AMERICANS 3 OIL KINGS 1

EDMONTON — Maxwell James's short-handed goal was the eventual winner as Tri-City topped the Oil Kings.

Parker Bowles and Jordan Topping also scored for the Americans (27-26-3), who have won two straight.

Davis Koch was the lone scorer for Edmonton (24-26-7).

WARRIORS 5 RAIDERS 0

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. — Zach Sawchenko stopped all 37 shots he faced as Moose Jaw shut out the Raiders.

Dryden Hunt had a hat trick and added two assists to lead the Warriors (29-21-8), while Brayden Point and Noah Gregor also scored.

Rylan Parenteau turned aside 25 of 29 shots for Prince Albert (31-19-6).

WINTERHAWKS 2 ROYALS 1 (OT)

PORTLAND, Ore. — Caleb Jones scored 1:13 into overtime as the Winterhawks edged Victoria.

Dominic Turgeon had the game-tying goal in the second period and assisted on the winner for Portland (29-25-3).

Ryan Peckford scored for the Royals (37-16-6).
