BOSTON - The rink lighting went out with 8:53 left in the first period of the Beanpot championship game at the TD Garden.
Power elsewhere in the building did not appear to be affected. The scoreboard remained working, as did the perimeter advertising boards and the electricity in the pressbox.
After a couple of minutes, what appeared to be dimmer backup lighting was restored over the ice. The public address announcer said the game would be delayed while they investigated the source of the outage.
The city was engulfed in a snowstorm that dumped about six inches on the area by Monday night.
Boston University played Boston College in the championship of the 64th annual tournament for the area's college hockey bragging rights.
Northeastern beat Harvard 5-1 earlier Monday.
