OHL Roundup: Ryan Moore powers Firebirds past Spirit 4-3 in overtime

SAGINAW, Mich. - Ryan Moore scored 4:25 into overtime to lift the Flint Firebirds over the Saginaw Spirit 4-3 on Wednesday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Francesco Vilardi scored back-to-back goals in the first period to give Flint (15-28-5) a 2-0 lead. Nicholas Caamano added a goal as the Firebirds had a 3-0 lead by the first intermission. Brent Moran made 37 saves for the win.

Hayden Hodgson's power-play goal forced overtime for Saginaw (20-25-5). Mike Davies and Kris Bennett also scored for the Spirit, while Evan Cormier stopped 24 shots.

The Firebirds did not score on their three power plays, while Saginaw went 1 for 2 with the man advantage.

STING 3 RANGERS 2 (OT)

SARNIA, Ont. — Pavel Zacha put away the winner 20 seconds into overtime as the Sting slipped past Kitchener.

Ryan McGregor and Jordan Kyrou scored in regulation for Sarnia (28-14-6), which has won four straight.

Ryan MacInnis and Miles Liberati supplied the offence for the Rangers (34-9-5).

STEELHEADS 4 STORM 1

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Mason Marchment had two power-play goals in the third period — including the eventual winner — to lead the Steelheads past Guelph.

Nathan Bastian also scored for Mississauga (25-22-4) in the third, while Nicolas Hague had the first goal of the game early in the second.

Givani Smith replied for the Storm (10-32-6).
