Jets' Byfuglien to test speed at All-Star skills
Dustin Byfuglien of the Winnipeg Jets will be one of the Western Conference players in the fastest skater race at NHL All-Star Skills Competition

NASHVILLE -- Winnipeg Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien, one of the biggest players in the League, will take part in the Bridgestone NHL Fastest Skater competition at the 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Skills Competition on Saturday (7 p.m. ET; NBCSN, SN, CBC, TVA Sports).

The 6-foot-5, 260-pound Byfuglien will join Western Conference teammates Roman Josi of the Nashville Predators, Taylor Hall of the Edmonton Oilers and Matt Duchene of the Colorado Avalanche in the event.

West captains John Scott and Patrick Kane met Friday to assemble the rosters for the six events at the skills competition.

Kane, voted as captain of the Central Division team for the 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Game on Sunday (5 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, TVA Sports), will be one of the shooters in the DraftKings NHL Accuracy Shooting competition, along with Joe Pavelski of the San Jose Sharks and Corey Perry of the Anaheim Ducks. Drew Doughty of the Los Angeles Kings and Vladimir Tarasenko of the St. Louis Blues will be the passers.

John Scott, voted as Pacific Division captain, will be one of four players from the Western Conference competing in the AMP Energy NHL Hardest Shot, along with Byfuglien, Tyler Seguin of the Dallas Stars and Shea Weber of the Predators.
