A severe snowstorm impacting the East Coast had caused the postponement of three NHL games.
The Washington Capitals game against the Pittsburgh Penguins scheduled for Sunday afternoon at Verizon Center will be rescheduled, the second game the Capitals had postponed in as many days. They were set to host the Anaheim Ducks on Friday in a game that was moved up two hours in an attempt to avoid the inclement weather; however, the NHL announced Friday afternoon it would not be played as scheduled.
The New York Islanders had their game against the Philadelphia Flyers scheduled for Saturday evening at Barclays Center postponed. The Flyers still held practice at the arena.

Tickets for each of these games will be honored on the rescheduled date, the Capitals and Islanders announced.
No makeup dates have been announced for any of the games.
The Carolina Hurricanes are offering fans who were unable to make it to their Friday game against the New York Rangers the opportunity to exchange their tickets for one of six games later this season. All ticket exchanges must take place at the PNC Arena box office.
Without any games to play, the Capitals spent their Saturday like many others in the region, clearing themselves out from the continually amassing snow.
Forwards Alex Ovechkin and Brooks Laich took to Instagram to show off their handiwork with their snowblowers.
