Rangers agree to terms with free agent forward Paille
The New York Rangers and free agent forward Daniel Paille agreed to terms on a contract Thursday.

Free agent forward Daniel Paille agreed to terms with the New York Rangers on Thursday, general manager Jeff Gorton announced.

Financial terms were not released, but TSN reported Paille agreed on a two-way contract worth $575,000 in the NHL and $100,000 in the American Hockey League. He will travel with the Rangers to Raleigh, N.C., for their game Friday against the Carolina Hurricanes but it's unclear if he'll play, coach Alain Vigneault said.

Paille, 31, was with the Chicago Blackhawks during training camp on a professional tryout agreement before he was cut. He signed with Rockford, the Blackhawks' AHL affiliate, had one goal and four points in 31 games. He also helped Canada win the Spengler Cup in December.

He had six goals and 13 points in 71 games with the Boston Bruins last season. Taken by the Buffalo Sabres with the 20th pick of the 2002 NHL Draft, Paille has 85 goals and 172 points in 570 regular-season games with the Sabres and Bruins. He helped Boston win the Stanley Cup in 2011 and advance to the Stanley Cup Final in 2013.

Paille and Rangers defenseman Dan Girardi were teammates with Guelph of the Ontario Hockey League from 2002-04.

"He's a great guy off the ice, and on the ice he's a great skater and a great [penalty kill] guy," Girardi said in comments tweeted by the Rangers.
