Robyn Regehr officially announced his retirement from the NHL on Monday in Calgary.
The 35-year-old defenseman spent 11 of his 15 NHL seasons with the Calgary Flames.
"It's really nice," Regehr told the Flames website. "It's a way that I'm very fortunate to tie up loose ends of my career after being gone for four seasons. It's nice to have the jersey back on even if it's just for ceremonial purposes. I've always felt part of Calgary and the Flames organization, so it's really nice to end it this way."
Regehr was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche with the 19th pick of the 1998 NHL Draft but was traded to the Flames on Feb. 28, 1999, along with two other players for Theoren Fleury and Chris Dingman.
His 826 games are the most for a Flames defensemen. He had 29 goals and 163 points. He also was on the Calgary team that reached the 2004 Stanley Cup Final.
Regehr also played with the Buffalo Sabres and the Los Angeles Kings, who he won the Stanley Cup with in 2014.
In 1,089 regular-season NHL games, he had 36 goals and 199 points.
"For me, points are one thing," Flames assistant general manager and former teammate Craig Conroy said. "But what you actually do for the team and the guys in the locker room, everybody that played with Robyn knows that he deserves this."
