Forward Nail Yakupov could return to the Edmonton Oilers lineup Tuesday against the Arizona Coyotes (9 p.m. ET; SNW, FS-A PLUS).
Yakupov, 22, hasn't played since spraining his ankle Nov. 25 against the Carolina Hurricanes.
"I think I'm ready to go. I want to help my team," Yakupov said in comments tweeted by the Oilers.
The first pick of the 2012 NHL Draft, Yakupov has two goals and 12 points in 22 games this season.
"There's a chance [Yakupov] might be ready for [Tuesday]," Oilers coach Todd McLellan said. "I think he's pretty darn close. He's worked really hard."
The Oilers also are missing rookie center Connor McDavid (broken left clavicle) and defenseman Oscar Klefbom (lower body). Neither player will return to the lineup until after the All-Star break, McLellan said Saturday.
