QMJHL Roundup: Nantel leads league-leading Huskies over Foreurs

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. - Julien Nantel scored two goals and set up another as the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies topped the Val-d'Or Foreurs 7-4 on Sunday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Nikolas Brouillard, Timo Meier, Alexandre Fortin and Francis Perron also scored for the league-leading Huskies (31-6-4) while Martins Dzierkals and Peter Abbandonato chipped in with two assists apiece.

Anthony Richard, Nicolas Aube-Kubel, Francois Beauchemin and Alexis Pepin supplied the offence for Val-d'Or (31-9-3).

Chase Marchant turned aside 27 shots in the victory. Etienne Montpetit made 39 saves in defeat.

Rouyn-Noranda scored five power-play goals on nine chances. The Foreurs went 1 for 6 with the man advantage.

MONCTON, N.B. — Nicolas Meloche scored in overtime to lead Gatineau over the Wildcats.

Vincent Milot-Ouellet, Vitalii Abramov and Alexandre Carrier had goals in regulation for the Olympiques (28-12-2), who have won three straight.

Will Smith scored twice for Moncton (28-10-6), which extended its point streak to 10 games (8-0-2) despite the loss. Zack MacEwen had the Wildcats' other goal.

SEA DOGS 5 OCEANIC 4

SAINT JOHN, N.B. — Matthew Highmore scored the winning goal on a power play 1:12 into the third period to complete a hat trick as the Sea Dogs beat Rimouski.

Sam Povorozniouk and Nathan Noel had the other goals for Saint John (25-13-3), which improved to 6-0-1 over its past seven games.

Nicolas Werbik led the Oceanic (24-14-4) with two goals. Deven St-Hilaire and Dominic Cormier also scored.

DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. — Alexis D'Aoust scored twice to lead Shawinigan over the Voltigeurs.

Dmytro Timashov added a goal and two assists for the Cataractes (27-11-3), who have won five straight games. Danny Moynihan and Dennis Yan had a goal and an assist each.

Michael Carcone and Alex Barre-Boulet scored for Drummondville (19-23-1).

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Jimmy Huntington's second-period goal stood as the winner as Victoriaville edged the Drakkar.

Maxime Comtois opened the scoring 1:11 into the second for the Tigres (19-15-7).

Jordan Martel had the lone goal for Baie-Comeau (6-30-3).
