OHl Roundup: Battalion score three in third, halt Otters' win streak at five

NORTH BAY, Ont. - Mike Amadio and Brett McKenzie scored 37 seconds apart in the third period as the North Bay Battalion came from behind to edge the visiting Erie Otters 3-2 on Thursday in Ontario Hockey League action.

The Battalion (20-14-3) trailed 2-0 after 40 minutes, but Kyle Potts found the back of the net 1:54 into the third to cut Erie's lead in half.

Amadio tied the game at 3:17 and then McKenzie added the eventual winner before the four-minute mark.

Alex DeBrincat and Jake Marchment scored for the Otters (32-5-1), who had their five-game win streak halted.

North Bay's Jake Smith made 31 saves for the win.

Devin Williams started in net for Erie but left the game with an undisclosed injury on the same play Potts put the Battalion on the board. He stopped 12-of-13 shots before giving way to Jake Lawr, who took the loss after giving up two goals on five shots in 16:09 of relief.

North Bay went 0 for 2 on the power play while the Otters scored on their only chance with the man advantage.

GENERALS 4 PETES 3

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. — Robbie Burt scored once in regulation and then added the shootout winner as Oshawa slipped past the Petes.

Riley Stillman and Anthony Cirelli also scored for the Generals (16-18-5), who have won three in a row. Jeremy Brodeur made 32 saves for the victory.

Steven Lorentz, Greg Betzold and Matthew Timms had goals for Peterborough (17-16-6). Matthew Mancino stopped 34-of-37 shots in defeat.

SPITFIRES 5 ATTACK 0

WINDSOR, Ont. — Michael DiPietro made 30 saves and Brendan Lemieux struck twice as the Spitfires blanked Owen Sound for their fourth straight victory.

Cristiano DiGiacinto, Logan Stanley and Mikhail Sergachev supplied the rest of the offence for Windsor (24-10-5).

Daniel Dekoning turned aside 22-of-27 shots for the Attack (16-15-7), who are on a three-game slide.

COLTS STEELHEADS

BARRIE, Ont. — Kevin Labanc had a six-point outing — including three goals — and Justin Scott scored twice as the Colts toppled Mississauga.

Andrew Mangiapane added a goal and two assists for Barrie (23-13-1), which got a 30-save outing from Mackenzie Blackwood. Anthony Stefano added the other.

Michael McLeod, Everett Clark, Stefan LaBlanc and Nicolas Hague scored for the Steelheads (20-17-4). Jack Flinn kicked out 19-of-25 shots in defeat.

Labanc has seven goals and 14 points in his past three games after putting up a seven-point effort on Jan. 2 in a win over the Battalion.
