Johansen, Jones cross paths at airport after trade
Ryan Johansen and Seth Jones crossed paths at Port Columbus International Airport after they were traded for each other Wednesday.

Ryan Johansen and Seth Jones crossed paths at the airport after they were traded for each other Wednesday.

Johansen, traded by the Columbus Blue Jackets to the Nashville Predators, was leaving town when he encountered Jones, who had arrived at Port Columbus International Airport, CBS Sports reported.

Johansen will be living in Jones' apartment in Nashville, the website said. Johansen could not return the favor in Columbus because he has a roommate.

"It's nice to turn the page and start a new chapter in my career and start here fresh," Jones said.

The former No. 4 picks in their NHL Draft (Johansen, 2010; Jones, 2013) were traded with each team looking to improve at their position; Nashville needed a center (Johansen) and Columbus needed a defenseman (Jones).

Each will debut with his new team Friday; Nashville visits the Colorado Avalanche, and Columbus plays at the Carolina Hurricanes.

"I think it's a great opportunity to get to know the guys right away," Johansen said of the Predators' upcoming road trip. "I've had the opportunity to meet a few of these guys before and spend some time with them, so it's nice to see some familiar faces."

The Blue Jackets play at the Predators on March 26.

Ran into my good buddy jonesy at the airport last night.
