Blue Jackets, Wild score two seconds apart, tie record
The Columbus Blue Jackets and Minnesota Wild tied an NHL record with goals two seconds apart on Tuesday.

The Columbus Blue Jackets and Minnesota Wild tied an NHL record with goals two seconds apart on Tuesday.

Nick Foligno scored for Columbus at 19:44 of the third period to make it 3-2. On the faceoff, Minnesota forward Mikael Granlund pushed the puck forward into an empty net at 19:46 for the 4-2 final score.

"I've never seen anything like it," Foligno said. "It would have been nice if we got the second one too (to make it 3-3)."

The goals tied the record set by the St. Louis Blues and the Boston Bruins on Dec. 19, 1987. Ken Linseman scored for the Bruins and Doug Gilmour for the Blues at 19:50 and 19:52 of the third period.

The Chicago Blackhawks and the Minnesota North Stars scored twice in three seconds on Nov. 5, 1988 (each with a goaltender in net; Steve Thomas, Dave Gagner).

The Wild scored twice in three seconds against the Blackhawks on Jan. 21, 2004 (Jim Dowd, Richard Park (empty net)).
