Richard Panik scores winner in overtime as Marlies edge Crunch 3-2

TORONTO - Richard Panik scored the overtime winner as the Toronto Marlies edged the Syracuse Crunch 3-2 on Sunday in American Hockey League action.

T.J. Brennan and Zach Hyman found the back of the net in regulation for Toronto (27-7-2), which won its third in a row.

Matt Taormina forced extra time with a goal late in the third period for the Crunch (14-13-6). Adam Erne added a power-play goal.

Antoine Bibeau kicked out 25 shots for the win in net as Kristers Gudlevskis made 32 saves in defeat.

The Marlies went 1 for 5 on the power play while Syracuse scored once on four chances.

Notes: Jonathan Drouin, the third overall pick in the 2013 NHL draft, was not in the Crunch lineup. The 20-year-old was sent to the AHL on Saturday by the Tampa Bay Lightning. Earlier Sunday, Drouin's agent said that he made a trade request with the Lightning over a month ago.
