Leafs prospect William Nylander injured in Sweden's rout of Switzerland at WJC

HELSINKI - Toronto Maple Leafs prospect William Nylander was injured and did not return for Sweden in its 8-3 rout of Switzerland at the world junior hockey championship on Saturday.

Nylander, who was selected eighth overall by Toronto at the 2014 NHL draft, received an open-ice hit from Swiss forward Chris Egli in the first period. Egli received a game misconduct for checking to the head and neck area on the play.

Fellow Maple Leafs prospect Dmytro Timashov led Sweden (1-0-0) with two goals and an assist. Nylander, Jacob Larsson, Adam Ollas Mattsson, Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson, Rasmus Asplund and Oskar Lindblom rounded out the attack.

Tino Kessler struck twice for Swtizerland (0-1-0) with Noah Rod adding the other.

Linus Soderstrom picked up the win in net, making 15 saves. Gauthier Descloux started for the Swiss, but was pulled after kicking out 11-of-17 shots in 32:50. Joren van Pottelberghe went the rest of the way, making 20 saves.
