Stockton edges Bakersfield in AHL outdoor game
The Stockton Heat defeated the Bakersfield Condors 3-2 in an outdoor game at Raley Field on Saturday.

Joni Ortio made 33 saves and the Stockton Heat defeated the Bakersfield Condors 3-2 on Saturday in an American Hockey League game played outdoors in Sacramento, Calif.

The game, which was pushed back a day because of rain, drew a crowd of 9,357 fans to Raley Field, home of the Sacramento River Cats, the Class AAA affiliate of baseball's San Francisco Giants.

"It's a great atmosphere to play outside. Not everyone gets to do that," Ortio said in comments tweeted by the Heat.

Stockton's Oliver Kylington broke a 1-1 tie when he scored at 7:26 of the third period, and Drew Shore made it 3-1 at 10:59. Kyle Platzer scored a power-play goal, his second goal of the game, with 3:38 remaining.

Bakersfield, the AHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers, led 1-0 after one period on a goal by Platzer 5:12 into the game. But the Heat, the Calgary Flames' top affiliate, tied it at 11:35 of the second when Derek Grant scored a power-play goal.

Ben Scrivens made 35 saves for Bakersfield.
