Penguins' Crosby day-to-day with lower-body injury
Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby is day-to-day with a lower-body injury, coach Mike Sullivan said Sunday.

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby missed practice Sunday and is day-to-day with a lower-body injury, coach Mike Sullivan said.

The Penguins face the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday at Consol Energy Center and don't play again until Saturday at the Minnesota Wild.

"If Sid can play, he'll play," Sullivan told the Penguins website. "That's the type of guy that he is. We'll make that decision [Monday]. We'll see how he is."

Crosby was injured Saturday in the third period of the Penguins' 2-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, Sullivan said. He has six goals and 22 points in 32 games this season.

Defenseman Kris Letang (upper body) skated with the Penguins on Sunday for the first time since he was injured in a 4-2 win against the Colorado Avalanche on Dec. 9.

"I felt pretty good," Letang said. "It was the first step. Obviously it's better than skating on your own and doing drills by yourself. It's improving. [Monday] we'll try to get a little bit more in and see how it goes."

The Penguins have lost five straight games and seven of their past eight. They are 0-4-0 since Sullivan took over for Mike Johnston, who was fired as coach on Dec. 12.

"With the coaching change you want to kind of prove yourself to the new staff to show them what you're capable of doing," Letang said.
