Ray Emery signs PTO agreement with AHL's Marlies
Goaltender Ray Emery signed a professional tryout agreement with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League on Friday.

Goaltender Ray Emery signed a professional tryout agreement with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League on Friday.

Emery, who was 10-11-7 with a 3.06 GAA and .894 save percentage with the Philadelphia Flyers last season, backed up Antoine Bibeau at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton hours after signing the agreement.

Bibeau could be called up by the Toronto Maple Leafs to back up Jonathan Bernier as soon as Saturday. The Maple Leafs lost rookie goalie Garret Sparks to a lower-body injury in the first period of a 5-4 overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks on Thursday and were already without James Reimer because of a groin injury.

Emery, 33, attended training camp with the Tampa Bay Lightning on a PTO but didn't make the roster. He agreed to a tryout with the Los Angeles Kings' AHL team, the Ontario Reign, and made three appearances before being released from the agreement earlier this month.

Emery has played 287 NHL regular-season games with the Ottawa Senators, Anaheim Ducks, Chicago Blackhawks and Flyers. He has a 145-86-28 record with a 2.70 goals-against average and .906 save percentage, and is 21-17 with a 2.64 GAA and .902 save percentage in 39 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
