Canucks' Henrik Sedin leaves game with injury
Vancouver Canucks captain Henrik Sedin left the game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday in the second period because of a lower-body injury.

PHILADELPHIA -- Vancouver Canucks captain Henrik Sedin left a 2-0 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday in the second period because of a lower-body injury.

Vancouver coach Willie Desjardins had no update on Sedin's condition after the game but did say the Canucks would call up a forward for their game Friday at the Detroit Red Wings.

Desjardins said Sedin's injury was not a new one.

"I've been aware of it for a little bit," he said. "Hopefully he'll have a good night and we'll see where he is [Friday]."

Sedin played five shifts totaling 9:31 of ice time. He blocked one shot and won three of eight faceoffs.

He's second on the Canucks with nine goals and 31 points in 32 games this season.

The loss was the Canucks' eighth in their past 10 games (2-6-2) and the fifth time in their past 10 they've been held to two goals or fewer.

"It'll get tougher," Desjardins said if they are without Sedin for an extended period of time. "But it'll give other guys a chance in maybe different roles. You never know."

In Sedin's absence, second-year center Bo Horvat led Canucks forwards with an NHL career-high 20:42 of ice time, and rookie center Jared McCann played a season-high 17:42.
