COLUMBUS, Ohio - Kyle Okposo got his second goal of the game at 2:16 of overtime to lift the New York Islanders to a 3-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night.

Frans Nielsen also scored and Jaroslav Halak had 28 saves as New York improved to 7-0-2 in its last nine games.

Brandon Saad and Cam Atkinson scored for Columbus, which entered with one win in its last seven (1-3-3). The Blue Jackets also had a potential winning goal in the final minute of regulation overturned by a video review.

Curtis McElhinney finished with 16 saves while making a second consecutive start since Sergei Bobrovksy suffered a strained groin late on Tuesday against the visiting Kings. Bobrovksy is expected to be on the shelf for three weeks.

HURRICANES 5, COYOTES 4, OT

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Victor Rask's left-handed wrist shot 53 seconds into overtime to lift Carolina.

Rask's goal came after the Coyotes' Connor Murphy scored with 15.7 seconds left in regulation to tie it. Seconds earlier, the Hurricanes' Elias Lindholm missed an empty net with Carolina up 4-3.

Justin Faulk had a goal and an assist, his goal a team-high 12th of the season. Faulk's goal came on the power play 40 seconds into the third period. Faulk has 13 assists and has tallied a point in four straight games.

Carolina goalie Eddie Lack stopped 24 shots a night after making 31 saves in a win at Anaheim, but he gave up two goals early in the third period that made the game closer. Anthony Duclair scored 1:23 into the period, his second goal of the game, and Kyle Chipchura put in a deflection moments later.

CAPITALS 2, LIGHTNING 1

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Braden Holtby made 35 saves to win for the 10th time in his last 11 starts as Washington beat Tampa Bay.

Holtby stopped Valtteri Filppula's shot from just outside the crease, and a scoring chance from the slot by Kucherov during a 15-second stretch 5 minutes into the game.

Washington got goals from Jay Beagle and Evgeny Kuznetsov.

Nikita Kucherov scored for the Lightning, who head out on a three-game road trip that includes a matchup Tuesday night at Toronto in which Lightning captain Steven Stamkos will be in the spotlight. The Ontario native can become a free agent after this season, which has been a topic of great discussion in the Toronto media.

Stamkos had an assist, but saw his goal-scoring drought reach eight consecutive games.

SABRES 2, KINGS 1, OT

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Ryan O'Reilly's sliding overtime goal ended Buffalo's three-game losing streak.

O'Reilly was tripped as he cut to the slot, but got off an off-balance shot that fooled Kings goaltender Jhonas Enroth at 3:19 of overtime. It was O'Reilly's 100th NHL goal.

Jamie McGinn also scored for the Sabres, and Linus Ullmark made three of his 21 saves in overtime.

Marian Gaborik scored for the Kings, and former Sabres goaltender Enroth finished with 28 saves.

The loss snapped the Kings' six-game winning streak, but Los Angeles has picked up a point or more in nine in a row.

BRUINS 3, PANTHERS 1

BOSTON (AP) — Ryan Spooner scored twice and Tuukka Rask stopped 26 shots to lift Boston past Florida.

Backed by a strong stretch from Rask, the Bruins posted their eighth win in 11 games (8-1-2). Rask is 6-0-2 in his past eight starts.

The 28-year-old Vezina Trophy winner held the Panthers scoreless until former Bruin Reilly Smith's fired a slap shot from the right point that broke between his pads with 6:04 to play.

Brad Marchand sealed it with an empty-net goal, firing it from centre ice with 1:23 to play.

Roberto Luongo made 22 saves for the Panthers, who lost for the third time in four games. They are winless in their past nine meetings in Boston (0-8-1).

CANADIENS 3, SENATORS 1

MONTREAL (AP) — Brian Flynn and Max Pacioretty scored in the first period, and Montreal stopped a four-game losing streak.

Jeff Petry also scored for Montreal (20-8-3), which scored more than two goals in a game for the first time in six contests.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored for Ottawa (15-10-5), which went 1-3-0 on a four-game road trip.

Determined to break their losing streak, and facing a flat-looking opponent, the Canadiens tied a team record with 27 shots on Craig Anderson in the first period and took a two-goal lead.

AVALANCHE 3, PREDATORS 2

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Andreas Martinsen broke a tie midway through the third period, Semyon Varlamov made 34 saves and Colorado beat Nashville.

Francois Beauchemin and Nick Holden also scored for Colorado in the first game of a three-game trip.

Miikka Salomaki and Craig Smith scored for Nashville. The Predators fell to 9-4-2 at home and 9-2-1 in its last 12 home games against Colorado.

Colorado seized a 2-0 lead in the first period, but Nashville rallied to tie the score at 2 on Smith's one-timer from the left point 58 seconds into the third. It was Smith's seventh goal of the season.

Martinsen's backhander during a scramble in front of the net gave the Avalanche a 3-2 lead with 10:24 left.

BLUES 3, DALLAS 0

ST. LOUIS (AP) — David Backes had a goal and an assist, Jake Allen stopped 26 shots and the St. Louis beat Dallas for the third straight time.

Vladimir Tarasenko and Ryan Reaves scored in the third period to help the Blues end a four-game losing streak at home to Dallas dating back to Nov. 23, 2013.

Backes also got into a fight with Stars forward Jammie Benn in the first period, earning the Gordie Howe hat trick.

Antti Niemi stopped 23 of 26 shots for the Stars, but fell to 9-9 in his career against the Blues.
