Wild goaltender Dubnyk has mild groin strain
Minnesota Wild goalie Devan Dubnyk has a mild groin strain and will not play Monday against the Colorado Avalanche, coach Mike Yeo said Sunday.

Minnesota Wild goalie Devan Dubnyk has a mild groin strain and will not play Monday against the Colorado Avalanche, coach Mike Yeo said Sunday.

However, Yeo said Dubnyk could return either Friday at the Arizona Coyotes or Saturday at the San Jose Sharks.

"Next weekend is a possibility," Yeo told the Wild website. "Where we're at in the season, we won't put him in the net if he's at risk of hurting himself and being out longer. Probably pretty good timing with the week that we have right now. We'll see if [Dubnyk] is ready for practice when we get back [from Colorado]."

Dubnyk, who is second in the NHL with 13 wins, left the Wild's 3-0 victory Saturday against the Avalanche with 9:05 left in the second period after making 11 saves. Backup Darcy Kuemper completed the shutout with nine saves for Minnesota, which carries a shutout streak of 154:39 into Colorado on Monday.

Kuemper will start against the Avalanche. Niklas Backstrom will dress as the backup.

"I hadn't been playing, but it's nice to get half a game in, and get the win, and get some momentum going into the game [Monday]," Kuemper said. "I'm feeling good about my game. I've just been trying to stay sharp, and waiting for my opportunity, and now I have a chance to play, so I have to take advantage of it."
