Patrick Kane point streak at 21 games, ties Bobby Hull
Patrick Kane tied the Chicago Blackhawks record by extending his point streak to 21 games with a power-play goal 3:27 into the second period against the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre on Thursday.

Forward Patrick Kane tied the Chicago Blackhawks record by extending his point streak to 21 games with a power-play goal 3:27 into the second period of a 4-3 overtime loss to the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre on Thursday.

He tied the record established by Bobby Hull from Dec. 5 to Jan. 23 during the 1971-72 season.

"It's one of those things I'm not too worried about when I'm playing the game," Kane said. "I guess when you're tied for anything with Bobby Hull, it's pretty special considering the career that guy had."

Kane reached 20 games with a goal against the Minnesota Wild on Dec. 1. He is the first NHL player with at least one point in at least 20 straight games since Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby had a 25-game streak from Nov. 5 to Dec. 28, 2010, the Elias Sports Bureau said.

"He's been doing it game in, game out, shift in, shift out," Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said. "He's been fun to watch. He makes plays over the course of the game that wow you. The fans, he entertains them whether you're the home or the road team. He's been special."

Kane, who had two assists Thursday, has 13 goals and 22 assists during his streak, which began Oct. 17 against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

"He is pretty fun to watch, even if you're on the opposite side," Senators forward Mike Hoffman said. "... I knew we were going to play against him before the game. You just try to be better than him as much as you can. Obviously, he's a dominant player, probably the best in the League. You try to shut him down as much as you can, but he still comes away with three (points)."

Edmonton Oilers center Wayne Gretzky holds the NHL record with a 51-game streak (1983-84 season). Gretzky had 61 goals and 92 assists during his streak.

Kane's first-period goal against the Los Angeles Kings on Nov. 28 gave him the record for most consecutive games with a point by an American-born player at 19. That goal broke a tie with Eddie Olczyk (Toronto Maple Leafs, 1989-90) and Phil Kessel (Boston Bruins, 2008-09).

Kane's streak almost ended at 17 games on Nov. 27 against the Anaheim Ducks, but he had an assist on Duncan Keith's goal with 27 seconds remaining in the third period of a 3-2 overtime win.
