Patrick Kane extends point streak to 20 games
Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane extended his point streak to 20 games with a power-play goal 5:21 into the second period against the Minnesota Wild at United Center on Tuesday.

Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane extended his point streak to 20 games with a power-play goal 5:21 into the second period of a 2-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild at United Center on Tuesday.

"Nice play by [Duncan Keith] to pick the guy’s stick there and made a good pass to me," Kane said. "I tried to go high actually, kind of flubbed the shot. I was lucky it went in."

Kane is the first NHL player with at least one point in 20 straight games since Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby had a 25-game streak from Nov. 5 to Dec. 28, 2010, the Elias Sports Bureau said.

Kane is one game shy of tying the Blackhawks record 21-game point streak set by Bobby Hull (1971-72).

Kane has 12 goals and 20 assists during his streak, which began Oct. 17 against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Edmonton Oilers forward Wayne Gretzky holds the NHL record with a 51-game streak (1983-84). Gretzky had 61 goals and 92 assists during his streak.

On Saturday, Kane's first-period goal against the Los Angeles Kings gave him the record for most consecutive games with a point by an American-born player at 19.

That goal, which came 11:10 into the game, broke a tie with Eddie Olczyk (Toronto Maple Leafs, 1989-90) and Phil Kessel (Boston Bruins, 2008-09).

Kane's streak almost ended at 17 games Friday against the Anaheim Ducks, but he had an assist on Keith's goal with 27 seconds remaining in the third period of a 3-2 overtime win.
