QMJHL Roundup: Moynihan's four points lead Mooseheads over Islanders

CHARLOTTETOWN - Danny Moynihan scored two goals and assisted on two more to lead the Halifax Mooseheads to a 4-2 victory over the Charlottetown Islanders on Sunday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Timo Meier had a goal and three helpers for Halifax (11-14-4) while Maxime Fortier scored once and set up two other goals.

Quinn O'Brien scored shorthanded for the Islanders (12-14-3) and Filip Rydstrom had a power-play goal.

Eric Brassard stopped 38 shots for the win. Mason McDonald made 21 saves in the losing effort.

The Mooseheads were 1 for 4 on the power play while Charlottetown scored once on six chances with the man advantage.

PHOENIX 4 SCREAMING EAGLES 0

SYDNEY, N.S. — Evan Fitzpatrick stopped all 26 shots he faced as Sherbrooke blanked the Screaming Eagles.

Nicolas Poulin had a goal and an assist for the Phoenix (12-12-5), while Hugo Roy, Julien Pelletier and Vincent Deslauriers rounded out the attack. Guillaume Gauthier chipped in with three assists.

Alexandre Belanger made 20 saves for Cape Breton (14-13-3). Screaming Eagles forward Colin MacSween received a game misconduct for charging late in the third period.

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. — Vitalii Abramov scored three times and Yan Pavel Laplante had a short-handed goal and three assists to power Gatineau over the Tigres for its fifth straight win.

Austin Eastman found the back of the net twice for the Olympiques (19-8-2) and Alex Dostie, with a goal and two assists, supplied the rest of the offence.

Mathieu Ayotte, Samuel Blais and Mario Huber scored for Victoriaville (12-12-3).
