QMJHL Roundup: Conor Garland has five points in Wildcats' win over Tigres

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. - Conor Garland had a hat trick and added two assists as the Moncton Wildcats beat the Victoriaville Tigres 7-4 on Friday night in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Matthew Klebanskyj, Will Smith, Cameron Askew and Kevin Klima also scored for the Wildcats (17-8-3). Manuel Wiederer tacked on three assists.

Pascal Laberge, Kyle Tibbo, Filip Pyrochta and Mario Huber supplied the offence for Victoriaville (13-10-3).

Sebastien Dupre picked up the win in net after turning aside 24 shots in 57:45. Blade Mann-Dixon finished out the game for Moncton and allowed the one shot he faced to get past him.

James Povall took the loss after kicking out 13-of-16 shots in 41:23. Olivier Tremblay started the game for the Tigres, but was pulled after allowing three goals on seven shots.

The Wildcats were 1 for 5 on the power play while Victoriaville was scoreless on five opportunities with the man advantage.

SEA DOGS 6 PHOENIX 2

SAINT JOHN, N.B. — Mathieu Joseph had a goal and an assist and Adam Marsh tacked on three assists as the Sea Dogs downed Sherbrooke.

Nathan Noel, Sam Povorozniouk, Adam Bateman, Oliver Felixson and Nicholas Blachman also scored for Saint John (16-10-2).

Guillaume Gauthier and Nicolas Poulin had goals the Phoenix (11-12-5).

FOREURS 9 VOLTIGEURS 2

VAL-D'OR, Que. — Anthony Richard had two goals and two assists as the Foreurs routed Drummondville.

Nicolas Aube-Kubel and Alexis Pein also struck twice for Val-d'Or (18-7-3). Anthony Beauregard and Julien Gauthier both had a goal and two assists, with Shawn Ouellette-St-Amant rounding out the attack.

Kristian Afanasyev and Mathieu Sevigny scored for the Voltigeurs (14-15-0).

CATARACTES 4 ARMADA 3 (OT)

SHAWINIGAN, Que. — Alexis D'Aoust scored his second goal of the game 14 seconds into overtime as the Cataractes topped Blainville-Boisbriand.

Gabriel Slight and Mathieu Olivier had the others for Shawinigan (20-6-1).

Alexandre Delisle-Houde, Kristian Pospisil and Samuel Tremblay chipped in for the Armada (10-14-4).

HUSKIES 7 TITAN 4

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. — Alexandre Fortin had two goals and two assists as the Huskies got past Acadie-Bathurst.

Gabriel Fontaine also struck twice for Rouyn-Noranda (21-3-4), with Charles-Olivier Ouimet, Antoine Waked and Allan Caron adding the others.

Vladimir Kuznetsov scored twice for the Titan (10-16-3). Christophe Boivin had a goal and two assists and Jeffrey Truchon-Viel rounded out the attack. Antoine Morand tacked on three assists.

OCEANIC 2 DRAKKAR 1 (SO)

RIMOUSKI, Que. — Michael Joly scored the only goal in the shootout as the Oceanic slipped past Baie-Comeau.

Samuel Laberge found the back of the net for his sixth goal of the season in the second period for Rimouski (16-9-2).

Matteo Pietroniro had a power-play goal in the first for the Drakkar (5-17-2).

OLYMPIQUES 5 SAGUENEENS 4 (SO)

GATINEAU, Que. — Vitalii Abramov and Alex Dostie both scored in the shootout as the Olympiques edged Chicoutimi.

Yan Pavel Laplante, Tristen Elie, Jake Coughler and Anthony Gagnon had goals in regulation for Gatineau (18-8-2).

Garrett Johnston, Landon Schiller, Alexandre Jacob and Dmitry Zhukenov scored for the Sagueneens (10-13-4).
