Minnesota Wild forward Zach Parise is doubtful to play during a homestand that ends Nov. 28, coach Mike Yeo said Monday.
He was on the ice during the morning skate Saturday but did not practice Monday.
Parise has missed seven games because of an MCL sprain in his right knee; he hasn't played since Nov. 5. He was scheduled to meet with doctors Saturday to see if he would be cleared for contact; the original prognosis was that he would be out one month.
"He clearly wasn't feeling 100 percent [Saturday], so we'll just take things slowly," Yeo told the Star Tribune. "[Tuesday] he'll skate with [skating coach] Andy [Ness] again and see where he's at.
"We're not panicking here by any means. I was shocked that he was on the ice with us -- well, not shocked knowing him -- but we weren't sitting around thinking that he'd be in the lineup for us Wednesday."
Parise, who has not been available to the media, has seven goals and nine points in 12 games this season.
Forward Justin Fontaine practiced Monday for the first time since missing nine games because of a sprained MCL in his left knee sustained Oct. 30. He is not expected to play Wednesday against the Vancouver Canucks but could return Friday against the Winnipeg Jets or Saturday against the Dallas Stars.
"He got a little more probably than he was bargaining for today," Yeo told the Wild website. "That's the only way we're going to get him back, is get him in there and get him the reps."
Forward Ryan Carter left practice after getting hit in the face with a puck and needed dental work.
