WINNIPEG -- Winnipeg Jets goaltender Ondrej Pavelec left after the second period against the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday at MTS Centre because of a lower-body injury.
Arizona captain Shane Doan collided with Pavelec while driving to the net with 4:46 left in the second period. Doan received a minor penalty for goaltender interference. Pavelec made 20 saves on 22 shots.
Michael Hutchinson replaced Pavelec at the start of the third period.
"I [was] trying to get to the net," said Doan, who was pushed by Winnipeg defenseman Mark Stuart before crashing into Pavelec. "I know I dove for the puck or it hit my skate, and I kind of lost my balance. I got pushed. I was almost on the ice when we hit.
"I just said [to the Jets] that I really didn't mean to run into him. Once I was going down, there's not much I can do there. Obviously it wasn't intentional."
Jets coach Paul Maurice said he would not have an update on Pavelec's condition until Sunday. Multiple media outlets reported via Twitter that Pavelec left the arena on crutches.
The Jets won the game, 3-2.
