Blue Jackets win with four defensemen after injuries
The Columbus Blue Jackets lost defensemen Fedor Tyutin and Cody Goloubef to upper-body injuries in the first period against the Nashville Predators at Nationwide Arena on Friday.

COLUMBUS -- The Columbus Blue Jackets lost defensemen Fedor Tyutin and Cody Goloubef to upper-body injuries in the first period against the Nashville Predators at Nationwide Arena on Friday yet won 4-0.

The Blue Jackets, who lost 3-0 at the Ottawa Senators on Thursday, had four defensemen for the final two periods.

"Four D on back-to-back nights," defenseman Ryan Murray said. "It's a great challenge for us. That's what you live for. That's why you play hockey, for these challenges."

Tyutin's last shift was with 4:41 left in the first period; he had 6:37 of ice time on six shifts before his upper-body injury. Goloubef played 5:07 over 10 shifts, the last coming with 1:46 remaining, when he was hit in the face by a Nashville shot that fractured his jaw.

David Savard led Columbus defensemen with 30:48 of ice time. Jack Johnson played 29:25, Kevin Connauton 24:31 and Murray 23:32. Goalie Sergei Bobrovsky made 39 saves.

"Those four [defensemen] that played, they got stronger as the game went on," Columbus coach John Tortorella said. "Those four and [Bobrovsky], I couldn't ask for any more."
