ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Brendan Leipsic scored 1:28 into overtime as the Toronto Marlies edged the Rochester Americans 1-0 on Wednesday in American Hockey League action.
Garret Sparks made 23 saves for Toronto (12-3-1) to earn the shutout. The Marlies have earned a point in their past eight games with seven wins and one overtime loss. Leipsic's goal came on the power play with assists from William Nylander and Mark Arcobello.
Andrey Makarov stopped 37-of-38 shots for Rochester (6-8-1), which is winless in four.
The Marlies went 1 for 5 with the man advantage while the Americans didn't score on four power plays.
