Callahan day-to-day as Lightning injury list grows
Tampa Bay Lightning forward Ryan Callahan is day-to-day with a lower-body injury, the Lightning announced Wednesday.

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Ryan Callahan is day-to-day with a lower-body injury, the Lightning announced Wednesday.

The Lightning, already without forward Ondrej Palat for 3-5 weeks because of a lower-body injury, were also missing forwards Tyler Johnson, Jonathan Drouin and Cedric Paquette when they lost 1-0 to the Florida Panthers on Monday. Johnson and Paquette have upper-body injuries; the injury to Drouin was undisclosed.

Lightning coach Jon Cooper ruled Johnson and Paquette out for the game Thursday against the New York Rangers. Drouin and Callahan are most likely out, Cooper said.

Callahan, who has four goals and two assists in 20 games this season, played 16:43 against the Panthers and had three shots on goal.

The Lightning averaged 3.16 goals per game last season, best in the NHL, but are 24th this season at 2.30 goals per game.
