INSIDE THE NUMBERS

For the second time in three days, a dozen games were contested:

* Nine games saw the winning team overcome a deficit of at least one goal (COL/BOS, WSH/PHI, MIN/CAR, VAN/OTT, TOR/NSH, NJD/CHI, WPG/DAL, EDM/ARI and NYI/LAK), including two teams that rallied from early 2-0 deficits to win (COL and MIN).

* Three players registered three points to help their clubs continue their record-setting start to the season: Dallas Stars forward Ales Hemsky (1-2—3), New York Rangers forward Mats Zuccarello (1-2—3) and Washington Capitals forward Jason Chimera (2-1—3).

* Two games went past regulation, with Jason Zucker notching the winning goal with 1:10 remaining in overtime to help the Minnesota Wild continue their record-setting start and Peter Holland scoring the lone goal in the fifth round of the shootout to lift the Toronto Maple Leafs to victory.

CLUBS CONTINUE RECORD-SETTING STARTS

The Stars, Rangers, Capitals and Wild all earned wins to continue their record-setting starts to the season:

* Jamie Benn (1-0—1) scored the go-ahead goal with 5:55 remaining in regulation to lead the Stars to a 6-3 win against the Winnipeg Jets, their fourth win in their last five games. At 13-4-0 (26 points), the Stars are off to their best 17-game start to a season (in terms of wins and points) in their 48-year franchise history. Benn scored his League-leading 11th goal of the season (tied w/ Patrick Kane), including three game-winners.

* The Rangers scored a season-high six goals and Henrik Lundqvist made 31 saves in a 6-3 win against the St. Louis Blues, including a sprawling paddle stop on Blues forward Alexander Steen. The Rangers extended their point streak to 11 games (9-0-2), including seven consecutive victories. At 12-2-2 (26 points), the Rangers are off to their best 16-game start to a season (in terms of wins) in the franchise's 89-year history. They also started with 26 points in their first 16 games in 1971-72 (11-1-4). The Rangers also earned their League-leading eighth victory on home ice this season (8-1-1). The Rangers have a point streak of at least 11 games for the first time since Feb. 9 – March 10, 2008 (10-0-3).

* Jason Chimera (2-1—3) factored on three straight goals in the second period to help the Capitals defeat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-2 and earn their first win at Wells Fargo Center since Nov. 1, 2013 (0-3-1). At 11-4-0 (22 points), the Capitals have equaled their best 15-game start to a season (in terms of wins and points) in their 41-year franchise history (also 1991-92 and 2010-11: 11-4-0 in both). Justin Williams had 1-1—2, including his first game-winning goal of the season, to boost his totals to 3-10—13 in his first 15 games with the Capitals.

* Jason Zucker (2-0—2) scored twice, including his first career overtime goal, to help the Wild rally for a 3-2 win against the Carolina Hurricanes and improve to 7-2-1 in their past 10 games, including three straight wins. At 10-3-2 (22 points), the Wild have matched their best 15-game start to a season (in terms of points) in franchise history (also 2002-03: 10-3-2 and 2006-07: 11-4-0). Devan Dubnyk made 37 saves, including 17 in the third period and overtime, to become the first goaltender to reach 10 wins this season (10-3-1, 2.41 goals-against average, .910 save percentage, two shutouts).

DOWN BUT NOT OUT

The New Jersey Devils, Buffalo Sabres and Toronto Maple Leafs each overcame a one-goal deficit to continue their recent success:

* Sergey Kalinin (1-1—2) broke a tie with 2:27 remaining in regulation to help the Devils defeat the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2. It was the Devils' second win against the Blackhawks in six days (also Nov. 6: 4-2 W) and their ninth win in their last p2 games following an 0-3-1 start to the season. Kalinin, who spent the past five seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League, has 2-1—3 in his past three games after posting 0-1—1 in his first 12 NHL games.

* Sam Reinhart, the second player taken in the 2014 NHL Draft, scored his third career goal and second game-winner (also Nov. 1 at NYI) to lift the Sabres to a 3-2 win against the Florida Panthers and 6-2-0 record in their past eight games, including three straight wins. The Sabres improved to 2-7-1 in their past 10 games against the Panthers dating to Jan. 9, 2014 (FLA: 8-1-1). Linus Ullmark made 36 saves to improve to 4-2-0 in his first six NHL appearances (2.45 GAA, .924 save percentage).

* The Ottawa Senators scored three straight goals and Andrew Hammond made 33 saves in a 3-2 win against the Vancouver Canucks as the Senators improved to 5-2-1 in their past eight games overall and 3-0-1 in their past four games against the Canucks dating to the 2014 NHL Heritage Classic. Via the Elias Sports Bureau, Hammond (22-1-4) became the third goaltender in NHL history to win 22 of his first 29 career appearances. Two Boston Bruins netminders also accomplished the feat: Frank Brimsek in 1938-39 and Ross Brooks from 1972-74.

* Tyler Bozak tied the game at 5:52 of the third period and Peter Holland had the lone goal in the fifth round of the shootout to lift the Maple Leafs to a 2-1 win against the Nashville Predators and a 3-1-2 record in their past six games. James Reimer (21 saves) has been the goaltender of record in each of those games, posting a 1.78 GAA and .943 save percentage in that span.

GOT YOUR NUMBER

The Arizona Coyotes and Colorado Avalanche also rallied from early deficits to continue their recent success against the Edmonton Oilers and Boston Bruins, respectively:

* The Coyotes scored four unanswered goals, powered by 1-1—2 from Max Domi, to defeat the Oilers 4-1 and extend their point streak against Edmonton to 19 games dating to March 17, 2011 (16-0-3; EDM: 3-13-3), including six consecutive victories. Domi, the 12th selection in the 2013 draft, has 8-7—15 in his first 16 NHL games (including five multipoint games) to rank first among rookies in goals and second in points, behind Blackhawks forward Artemi Panarin (5-11—16). Mike Smith made 27 saves, including 14 in the second period, to improve to 11-1-1 in 15 career games against the Oilers (2.53 GAA, .915 save percentage).

* The Avalanche scored three unanswered goals, including the go-ahead goal by Matt Duchene (1-1—2) at 9:14 of the third period, for a 3-2 win, their eighth straight at TD Garden (dating to March 24, 2001; BOS: 0-7-1). Colorado has started its season-high seven-game road trip with a pair of victories (also Nov. 10 at PHI: 4-0 W). Duchene, who had his 20th career game-winning goal (first this season), has posted 6-3—9 in his past six games after beginning the season with 1-1—2 in his first 10 games. Reto Berra (25 saves), who has been in goal for each of Colorado's past two victories, improved to 3-3-0 with in seven games this season (1.58 GAA, .948 save percentage, two shutouts).

KANE EXTENDS POINT STREAK

Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane (1-1—2) extended his point streak to 11 games (8-11—19), the longest in the NHL this season. Overall, Kane has 11-14—25 this season, including at least one point in 14 of his first 16 games, to share first in the League in goals (w/ Jamie Benn) and points (w/ Tyler Seguin).

* Kane has posted at least one point in 11 or more consecutive games in a season three other times in his career, including two instances in 2013-14 (Nov. 3-27, 2013: 8-9—17 in 12 GP and Nov. 30 – Dec. 28, 2013: 8-17—25 in 15 GP). The other such streak: Dec. 22, 2009 – Jan. 9, 2010 (9-9—18 in 11 GP).

* Via Elias, the last Blackhawks player other than Kane to record at least one point in 11 or more consecutive games in a season was Chris Chelios (Oct. 26 – Nov. 28, 1995: 4-16—20 in 15 GP).

CLIMBING THE ALL-TIME CHARTS

Panthers forward Jaromir Jagr (1,564 GP), Coyotes captain Shane Doan (1,410 GP) and Avalanche forward Jarome Iginla (1,408 GP), the active leaders in games played, all continued their climb up the NHL's all-time games played list:

* Jagr (0-1—1) played in his 1,564th career game to tie Nicklas Lidstrom, who was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday, for 10th place.

* Doan (1-0—1) surpassed Paul Coffey (1,409 GP) and tied Norm Ullman (1,410 GP) for 31st place, while Iginla surpassed Dale Hunter (1,407 GP) to pull within one game of tying Coffey for the 33rd spot. Harry Howell (1,411 GP) holds the 30th position.

* Iginla (596-643—1,239) had an assist to tie Peter Stastny (450-789—1,239) for 37th place on the NHL's all-time points list.

MORE MILESTONES & BENCHMARKS

* Predators defenseman Shea Weber (1-0—1) played in his 700th NHL game (all w/ Nashville) to become the third player in franchise history (and first defenseman) to suit up in as many games with the team. The others: David Legwand (956 GP) and Martin Erat (723 GP).

* The Avalanche's Erik Johnson (0-1—1), the first player taken in 2006, became the first defenseman from his draft class to reach 200 career points (51-149—200).

* Oilers forward Teddy Purcell played in his 500th NHL game.

LOOSE PUCKS

Offseason additions Jhonas Enroth (31 saves) and Milan Lucic (GWG) combined to lead the Los Angeles Kings to a 2-1 win against the New York Islanders and a 5-0-1 record in their past six games against New York at Staples Center. Enroth has won all three appearances with the Kings (3-0-0, 0.34 GAA, .979 save percentage, one shutout), while Lucic (4-5—9) has three game-winning goals (16 GP). … Steven Stamkos broke a tie in the third period to help the Tampa Bay Lightning defeat the Calgary Flames 3-1 and snap a three-game skid at Amalie Arena. It was his 41st career game-winning goal and 99th on the power play (all w/Tampa Bay); only Vincent Lecavalier (112 PPG) has more power-play goals in Lightning history. … Stars defenseman John Klingberg (1-1—2) leads all defensemen with 3-14—17, one point ahead of Ottawa's Erik Karlsson (2-14—16) and Montreal's P.K. Subban (1-15—16). … Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Justin Faulk (1-0—1) leads NHL defensemen with six goals, all of which have come via the power play, which paces the entire League. … Senators defenseman Chris Wideman, a fourth-round selection (No.100) in 2009, scored his first career game-winning goal (5 GP). He scored his first career goal in his last appearance (Nov. 7 at Carolina). … Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen (35 saves), the second player taken in 2002 (by the Atlanta Thrashers), improved to 6-1-1 in eight games vs. WPG/ATL (2.11 GAA, .941 save percentage). … Blues goaltender Jake Allen had his personal shutout streak end at 170:53. … Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl (0-1—1), the third pick in 2014, has at least one point in five of seven games since being recalled from the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League on Oct. 29 (4-7—11). Teammate Taylor Hall (1-0—1) has 3-5—8 in his past six games. … Coyotes defenseman Stefan Elliott scored his first goal with the club (6 GP) and first in the NHL since April 13, 2014 at ANA (w/ Colorado). … The Detroit Red Wings signed forward Justin Abdelkader to a seven-year contract extension. … The Flames acquired goaltender Kevin Poulin from the Lightning in exchange for future considerations. … ICYMI: The NHL and NHLPA announced the appointment of Team Europe's scouting staff and assistant coach for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
