The Calgary Flames acquired goalie Kevin Poulin in a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning for future considerations on Thursday.

The Calgary Flames acquired goalie Kevin Poulin in a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning for future considerations on Thursday.

The Flames announced Poulin will report to Stockton of the American Hockey League.

Poulin, 25, has not played in a game yet this season. He had been claimed on waivers by the Lightning from the New York Islanders on Sept 27, and was sent to Syracuse of the American Hockey League on Oct. 25.

The Flames have used three starting goalies this season: Karri Ramo, Jonas Hiller and Joni Ortio. The starting goalie for their AHL affiliate, Jon Gillies, sustained a lower-body injury last Friday.

Poulin has 50 games of NHL experience, all with the New York Islanders, including one game last season. In 45 games last season with Bridgeport, the Islanders' AHL affiliate, he went 16-21-7 with a 2.87 goals-against average and .912 save percentage.
