KENNWICK, Wash. - Rihards Bukarts scored the first of five-straight goals for the Portland Winterhawks and added an assist as they downed the Tri-City Americans 6-2 on Wednesday night in Western Hockey League action.
Blake Heinrich led the Portland (8-9-0) offence with a goal and two assists. Keegan Iverson, Alex Overhardt, Alex Schoenborn and Dominic Turgeon also scored as the Winterhawks snapped a three-game losing skid. Jack Dougherty tacked on three assists.
Beau McCue and Morgan Geekie had goals for Tri-City (6-11-1), in its third-straight loss.
Michael Bullion made 29 saves for the win in net as Evan Sarthou turned away 28 shots in a losing effort.
Portland was 2 for 7 on the power play while the Americans were scoreless on five chances.

KELOWNA, B.C. — Nick Merkley and Justin Kirkland both scored in the shootout as the Rockets edged Vancouver.
Tanner Wishnowski evened the game at 1-1 with a goal in the third period for Kelowna (14-5-0), which won its fifth straight.
