CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Jake Chelios scored a power-play goal with 25 seconds left in regulation as the Charlotte Checkers beat the Manitoba Moose 3-2 in American Hockey League action Sunday.

Manitoba's JC Lipon scored two goals in the third period to tie the game before the Checkers scored with Matt Halischuk in the penalty box for high-sticking.

Derek Ryan and Joakim Nordstrom also scored power-play goals for Charlotte (7-5-0).

Lipon scored on a power-play and short-handed for Manitoba (2-7-2).

The loss spoiled a fine effort from Moose goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, who stopped 37 shots.
