St. Louis Blues defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk was activated off injured reserve Friday and could return to the lineup Saturday against the Nashville Predators (8 p.m. ET; FS-TN, FS-MW).
Shattenkirk missed the past 10 games with a lower-body injury. He has one assist in three games this season.
The Blues on Friday also signed forward Martin Havlat to a one-year, two-way contract worth $600,000 at the NHL level and $200,000 if he's in the American Hockey League.
Havlat, 34, had five goals and 14 points in 40 games last season with the New Jersey Devils. He has 241 goals and 593 points in 788 games for the Ottawa Senators, Chicago Blackhawks, Minnesota Wild, San Jose Sharks and Devils.
The Blues released forward Dainius Zubrus from his professional tryout and assigned forward Ty Rattie to the Chicago Wolves of the AHL. Rattie has two assists in five games with the Blues this season.
