Hellebuyck makes 39 saves, Moose earn first win of AHL season

MILWAUKEE - Connor Hellebuyck stopped 39 shots, including all 18 his way in the third period, as the Manitoba Moose picked up their first win of the American Hockey League season on Thursday, 3-2 over the host Milwaukee Admirals.

Brenden Kichton scored the eventual winner at 7:39 of the second period for the Moose (1-4-2), who opened their season with six losses in a row.

Joel Armia and Matt Halischuk also scored for Manitoba, the AHL affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets.

Stevie Moses and Viktor Arvidsson supplied the offence for the Admirals (2-4-0).

Marek Mazanec turned aside 30-of-33 shots for Nashville's farm club.

Both clubs went 1 for 6 on the power play.
