Pittsburgh Penguins forward Beau Bennett, who has missed the past five games since sustaining an undisclosed injury on Oct. 13 against the Montreal Canadiens practiced Sunday.

Bennett rotated on a fourth line that also included Chris Porter, Matt Cullen and Sergei Plotnikov, according to the Penguins website.

"I felt good on the ice today and hopefully I'll be good to go Wednesday [against the Washington Capitals]," Bennett said. "But that's the coaches' call."

Bennett has one goal in three games, scored against the Canadiens. He said he sustained his injury while celebrating the goal.

"It's very unique the way the injury happened," Penguins coach Mike Johnston said, according to the Penguins website. "But as the game is, anything can happen. Sometimes for Beau, that's the way it goes."

Johnston said he liked what he saw from Bennett but wasn't ready Sunday to make a decision about his availability for the game against the Capitals.

"[Bennett] looked really good today," Johnston said. "Hopefully we have an encouraging practice from him on Tuesday and then we’ll go from there."

In addition to Bennett, the Penguins could be close to getting forward Eric Fehr into the lineup. Fehr has not played since having elbow surgery June 3.

"He's been progressing nicely," Johnston said. "Hopefully we can get him back as early as this weekend." After their game against the Capitals, the Penguins play the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday and the Toronto Maple Leafs on Oct. 31.

Right wing Bryan Rust, who sustained an undisclosed injury during the second period Saturday against the Nashville Predators, did not practice Sunday.

"He'll be out, and we don't have a timeline but it's not day-to-day," Johnston said. "I'll have a better timeline in the next day or two."
