The Capitals are off until Wednesday, when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins at Verizon Center (8 p.m. ET; NBCSN). Washington plays at the Florida Panthers on Halloween.
Ovechkin scored a goal in each of his first five games, including his 900th NHL point. The 30-year-old has 480 NHL goals, three behind Sergei Fedorov for most by a Russian-born player.
