OHL Roundup: Matt Mistele nets OT winner on penalty shot as Generals beat Petes

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - Matt Mistele snapped the Oshawa Generals losing skid in dramatic fashion on Thursday night.

Mistele scored his second of the game on a penalty shot in overtime as the Generals ended a three-game losing streak with a 5-4 victory over the Peterborough Petes in Ontario Hockey League action.

Petes goaltender Dylan Wells was called for throwing his stick at 2:07 of extra time to force the penalty shot.

Joe Manchurek had a pair of late goals in the third period for Oshawa (5-5-2) to equalize the game and send it to overtime. Sam Harding had a first-period goal while Domenic Commisso tacked on two assists.

Jonathan Ang scored twice for the Petes (5-3-3), who also got goals from Adam Timleck and Josh Maguire. Greg Betzold chipped in with three assists.

Jeremy Brodeur got the win in net — making 26 saves. Wells turned away 31 shots in the loss.

The Generals were 0 for 3 with the man advantage while Peterborough also failed to score on four opportunities.

SPITFIRES 5 BATTALION 2

NORTH BAY, Ont. — Aaron Luchuk scored the first of four goals in the third period for Windsor as it topped the Battalion.

Christian Fischer, on the power play, Luke Kirwan and Cristiano DiGiacinto, into an empty net, rounded out the scoring for the Spitfires (7-1-3) in the third. Cole Carter had a power-play goal in the second.

Justin Brazeau and Mike Amadio had goals for North Bay (5-5-0).

RANGERS 6 STING 3

SARNIA, Ont. — Ryan MacInnis had two goals and an assist as Kitchener handed the Sting their first regulation loss in seven games.

Brandon Robinson, Darby Llewellyn, Connor Bunnaman and Dmitrii Sergeev also scored for the Rangers (7-0-3).

Anthony Salinitri, Pavel Zacha and Chase Campbell found the back of the net for Sarnia (7-3-1).

COLTS 8 FIREBIRDS 5

BARRIE, Ont. — Roy Radke and Cordell James both had two goals and an assist to lead the Colts past Flint.

Julius Nattinen added a goal and two assists for Barrie (6-4-0). Ben Hawerchuk, Rasmus Andersson and Michael Webster had the others.

Nicholas Caamano struck twice for the Firebirds (5-4-1), who also got goals from Dane Johnstone, Ryan Moore and Will Bitten.
