Penguins' Dupuis practices for first time since injury
Pittsburgh Penguins forward Pascal Dupuis, who hasn't played this season because of a lower-body injury practiced on Sunday for the first time since sustaining the injury a few weeks ago.

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Pascal Dupuis, who hasn't played this season because of a lower-body injury practiced on Sunday for the first time since sustaining the injury a few weeks ago.

"I'm right on the schedule of the progress of this injury," Dupuis told the Penguis website. "Today was a good step. If I went out and didn't feel good it would be a step back. The fact that I stayed on and went through practice, did a normal practice and had a big smile on my face and had fun, I think it's the right way."

The Penguins announced on Oct. 8, Dupuis would miss 4-to-5 weeks.

Dupuis, 36, played in 16 games last season because of blood clots and missed 34 games in 2013-14 because of a knee injury.

"It felt good. It was a good step in the right direction," Dupuis said. "The next step is to see how it reacts overnight. It went pretty good out there. Right now there are no issues at all. I stayed out a little bit longer."

The Penguins have scored seven goals in five games and Dupuis will be a welcome addition when he returns.

"It was a nice surprise," Sidney Crosby said. "He looks good out there. It's nice to have him out there. He looks pretty happy and excited to be back out. We're happy to have him out there. Hopefully he'll be back in the lineup soon."
