Jeremy Gregoire nets a short-handed goal to help IceCaps top Wolf Pack

HARTFORD, Conn. - Jeremy Gregoire scored a short-handed goal in the second period as the St. John's IceCaps opened their American Hockey League season with a 3-1 victory over the Hartford Wolf Pack on Saturday night.

Bud Holloway opened the scoring for St. John's (1-0-0) in the first period. Charles Hudon would add an empty-netter for the Montreal Canadiens' farm club.

Chad Nehring found the back of the net in the third for the Wolf Pack (0-1-0).

Dustin Tokarski made 30 saves for the win in goal. Magnus Hellberg stopped 27 shots for the New York Rangers' affiliate.

The IceCaps went 0 for 1 with the man advantage while Hartford also failed to convert on five opportunities.
