QMJHL Roundup: Meier, Mooseheads snap five-game skid with OT win over Armada

HALIFAX - Timo Meier scored his second goal of the game 1:41 into overtime as the Halifax Mooseheads snapped a five-game skid with a 5-4 win over the visiting Blainville-Boisbriand Armada on Thursday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

The 19-year-old from Switzerland — who was playing in his second game since returning from the San Jose Sharks — also added two assists to finish with a four-point outing.

Cavan Fitzgerald, Arnaud Durandeau and Danny Moynihan also scored for Halifax (2-6-2), which trailed 4-2 before Meier and Moynihan scored to force the extra period.

Philippe Sanche struck twice for the Armada (4-3-2), who lost for the first time in three outings, while Guillaume Bergeron-Charron, Brendan Hamelin added the others.

Halifax's Eric Brassard made 21 saves for the win as Samuel Montembault stopped 24-of-29 shots for Blainville-Boisbriand.

The Mooseheads went 2 for 8 on the power play — including Meier's winner — while the Armada scored once on three chances with the man advantage.
