WHL Roundup: Beau McCue scores twice as Americans edge Blazers 4-3

KAMLOOPS, B.C. - Beau McCue's second goal of the game was the winner, lifting the Tri-City Americans to a 4-3 victory over the Kamloops Blazers in Western Hockey League action on Wednesday.

McCue found the back of the net 8:44 into the third period to break a 3-3 tie. He also scored the first Americans goal of the game at 4:26 of the opening period.

Kyle Olson and Parker Witherspoon each had a goal and an assist for Tri-City (2-1-1).

Marc McNulty, Collin Shirley and Nick Chyzowski scored for winless Kamloops (0-5-0).

Evan Sarthou made 27 saves in the victory. Connor Ingram stopped 32 shots in the losing effort.

Tri-City was 1 for 3 on the power play. The Blazers failed to score on two chances with the man advantage.

BLADES 7 ICE 2

SASKATOON — Cameron Hebig and Josh Uhrich each scored twice as the Blades sliced through Kootenay.

Mason McCarty and Nick Zajac had a goal and an assist apiece for Saskatoon (2-0-3). Nikita Soshnin also scored.

Roman Dymacek and Max Patterson had goals for the Ice (1-5-0).

WARRIORS 8 GIANTS 5

MOOSE JAW, Sask. — Brayden Point scored three goals and set up another as the Warriors hammered Vancouver.

Nikita Popugaev had two goals and two assists for Moose Jaw (3-0-1). Tanner Jeannot, Jiri Smejkal and Tanner Faith also scored.

Clayton Kirichenko, Jackson Houck, and Radovan Bondra had a goal and a helper apiece for the Giants (3-2-1), who were 3 for 3 on the power play. Taylor Crunk and Matt Barberis rounded out the offence.

ROYALS 4 CHIEFS 1

VICTORIA — Tyler Soy scored twice as the Royals downed Spokane.

Ethan Price had a goal and an assist for Victoria (5-1-0) and Dante Hannoun supplied the rest of the offence.

Keanu Yamamoto had the lone goal for the Chiefs (3-2-0).
