Ducks defeat Canadiens for Cup in NHL 16 simulation
EA Sports, the company behind NHL 16, simulated the 2015-16 season and the result was the Ducks defeating the Montreal Canadiens in seven games to win the Stanley Cup.

Can the Anaheim Ducks win the Stanley Cup this season? EA Sports believes they will.

The company behind NHL 16 simulated the 2015-16 season and the result was the Ducks defeating the Montreal Canadiens in seven games to win the Cup for the first time since 2007.

In the simulation, Ducks star forward Corey Perry had 23 points and was named the winner of the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The road to the Cup Final saw the Ducks defeat the Minnesota Wild in the Western Conference Final and the Canadiens defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Eastern Conference Final.

Though the Penguins came up short, their captain, Sidney Crosby, had another productive season. The EA Sports simulation had him win the Hart Trophy, the Ted Lindsay Award and the Art Ross Trophy. It would be the third time Crosby has won all three awards in one season (2006-07, 2013-14).

Crosby wasn't the only player to collect hardware. The simulation predicted Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin would score 55 goals and win the Maurice Richard Trophy for the fourth straight season, and sixth time in his career.

Canadiens goaltender Carey Price, who won the Vezina and Hart trophies last season, won his second consecutive Vezina Trophy in the simulation.

Connor McDavid, the first pick of the 2015 NHL Draft, finished in the top-15 in League scoring and won the Calder Trophy as the League's top rookie.
