Lightning's Hedman back at practice after injury
Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman was a full participant at practice Wednesday, a day after he was removed from a preseason game against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Johnstown, Pa., because of an undisclosed injury.

TAMPA -- Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman was a full participant at practice Wednesday, a day after he was removed from a preseason game against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Johnstown, Pa., because of an undisclosed injury.

After the game, Lightning coach Jon Cooper said the injury was minor and that Hedman was held out for precautionary reasons.

Hedman was one of the first skaters on the ice ahead of practice Wednesday and showed no signs of discomfort during the 50-minute session. He went to the trainer's room after practice and did not speak to reporters, but relayed a message through a member of the Lightning public relations staff that he was fine.

Hedman missed 23 games in 2014-15, including a six-week absence early last season because of a broken finger.

Lightning assistant Rick Bowness said Wednesday he was not sure if Hedman would play Thursday in a preseason game against the Dallas Stars.

Bowness also said center Cedric Paquette remains day-to-day after taking a shot off his leg Saturday in a 6-3 loss to Dallas.

"Everyone's going to have injuries," Bowness said. "It's impossible to go through a season without them. So we've got five lines here and we've got nine [defensemen] here, and at some point they're all going to play because of injuries. You just deal with it."
